Acupuncture is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has a history of more than 3000 years of successfully diagnosing, treating and preventing illness.

Your body is interconnected by meridians and pathways through which vital energy flows. The Acupuncturist inserts very fine, pre-sterilized, disposable (one time use) surgical grade stainless steel needles into specific points along these meridians. This allows your energy flow to be manipulated, aiding in both physical and mental ailments. Modern research has shown that stimulating acupuncture points decreases inflammation, increases endorphins to relieve pain, regulates blood circulation and hormone secretion, and boosts the immune system.

Reiki is a gentle, Japanese technique designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and encourage healing. During a Reiki session, you remain fully clothed while the practitioner uses the “laying on of hands” to channel life force energy. This energy flows through us all, and when it's low, we may feel more susceptible to illness and stress. Conversely, a high level of life force energy can enhance our happiness and health. Reiki treats the whole person—body, emotions, mind, and spirit—creating many beneficial effects such as relaxation, feelings of peace, security, and well-being.

Benefits of Reiki include alleviating pain and discomfort, increasing energy levels, creating harmony and balance, reducing stress, and promoting relaxation. It also helps balance emotions, manage pain, improve sleep, enhance self-awareness, support healing, and clear energy blockages. Experience the profound benefits of Reiki and embark on a journey towards greater well-being and inner peace.

Dr. Bairu Wang earned her Chinese Medicine Bachelor Degree in the Guiyang University of TCM in China. She was then working in a Chinese hospital for 6 years from 2010-2016 which later granted her a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor in 2012. The huge population in China gave her the opportunity to see and treat 40-60 patients a day that contributes to her experience and skills tremendously. Since Dr.Bairu arrived in Calgary in 2016 she keeps treating patients in an Acupuncture College which contributes to her understanding of different cultures between Canada and China.

Dr. Bairu practices traditional Chinese style acupuncture which is mainly based on meridian theory and viscera theory. In some cases, she also adopts Western anatomical theory in her treatment principles. She emphasizes finding the underlying causes of diseases rather than treating one painful region at a time, as would be done using Western anatomical theory. For example, a patient may often have neck pain and upper back pain, not only putting needles in each of these painful regions but also needling in the distal area on four limbs because of meridian theory. It is also very common that body pain is due to internal health problems, rather than a local problem. Chinese acupuncture will catch this, whereas western medical needles will not.

Dr. Bairu can prescribe you Chinese herbal formula which is specifically tailored to your particular body. A Chinese herbal formula consists of between 4 to 15 ingredients. This is very different from taking one ingredient at a time as is commonly done in Western herbalism. By combining ingredients, many symptoms can be treated at the same time and side effects can be avoided. If you are afraid of needles, in many cases you can still come for treatment because you can take Chinese herbal medicine without getting acupuncture.
